Why Do You Love Fitness and Why Did You Start PARADIGM:
Well, I started young with fitness. At the age of 13-14 I chose weights to help me get through some shitty middle school years. Let’s just say I was the chubby kid with braces and a god awful bowl cut (thanks mom) along with a style conundrum of collard shirts and knock off Jynco Jeans (Zons), I wasn’t exactly the cool kid. This sprung my everlasting love for fitness, because I could have chose alcohol/drugs or to lash out and whaler in a depressive state but I didn’t and I am ever so grateful for it. Fitness has so many benefits that surpass beyond the surface, yes you can look great but feeling great, building a solid foundation for your health ensuring your future self of an active wonderful live has no comparison.
I started PARADIGM because I was tired of big box gyms and their generic approach to fitness which has been played out. Let’s circle back a little so you can get the full picture. Growing up in small town Kansas I was used to the close knit community. We cared for each other and took care of each other. This was foundation number 1. Create a gym where community comes first. Fast forward now being a seasoned fitness vet, already owning a gym concept (TITLE Boxing Club Uptown) and being a fitness model that traveled around the world for 7 years being engulfed in different cultures’ take on fitness and how they conceptualize the gym industry; you could say I had developed a vision for the future of fitness and I wanted to show that with the inception of PARADIGM. This brings us to foundation number 2. I wanted a hybrid concept that provided the luxurious feeling with a per-functional (performance functional) feel. Something that made you say “wow this place is badass!”.

Like I said I have been in the fitness game for a while, I have gone through personal transformations, have had ups and downs which leads me to foundation number 3. Sustainability. Now this can be a difficult one to comprehend because everyone has their own approach to fitness. To put simply I wanted to change peoples mindset or “interpretation” to what it means to be fit and healthy. This is why I came up with the 4 standards of PARADIGM. Consistency. Balanced. Lifestyle. Fitness. Consistency, means develop consistent habits like getting active everyday. It doesn’t mean workout everyday it just means do something that gets your blood flowing, could be a walk, riding your bike or even dancing or more simply put Just Move. Balanced, means stop stressing, stop over doing it and stop counting calories. You are human, just live your life but be more self aware. Extreme tendencies causes extreme stress and fluctuations to your body. Balance is key, you can still drink, eat sweets and indulge the cheesy salty goodness but find the moderator in you and don’t over do it. Lifestyle, simply put is making it part of your routine like brushing your teeth. People are more sedentary than ever yet consume more food than ever. Take a look back at photos from the 70s and 80s (easy quick google search) and compare them with photos from today. What do you see? I know exactly what you are going to say and its along the lines of “Holy Sh!t!”. Now think about this, those were our parents and grand parents. Even now a lot of our parents and grand parents are slightly overweight or obese, and most of them were skinny or lean back in the day! You see where I am going with this? That is why making fitness part of your lifestyle is so important. You have to look to the future and if you are overweight now and not very active what do you think you will be in 10? 20? 30 years? It is a way to prolong your life in a significant way. Fitness, at the end of the day it’s just fitness. Its not complicated, it doesn’t give you a hangover, its a natural stress relief and there’s nothing else that will make you more mentally and physically stronger. Welcome to PARADIGM, we know you’ll enjoy your stay 😉
